FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A few things people usually want to know.

Is BillTumble an energy or broadband supplier?

No. BillTumble helps households review their current bills and explore whether the services available through us could save them money. BillTumble is not a whole-of-market comparison service. A member of our team will explain the relevant provider, services, prices and terms before you decide whether you want to proceed.

Does it cost anything for BillTumble to help me?

No. There is no cost for us to check your household bills, talk you through the options available and help you see whether you could save. There is also no obligation to switch.

Do I have to switch?

No. Sending us your details means you’d like us to look at your enquiry and contact you. You decide whether to take any next step.

Can tenants use BillTumble?

Yes. We ask whether you are a homeowner or tenant because the options available can differ depending on your situation.

Can you help if I’m already in contract?

Potentially. We may be able to cover up to £400 of eligible early termination fees. This is subject to terms and conditions, so we’ll check what applies to your situation when we speak to you.

Do you offer mobile SIMs too?

Yes. Market-leading unlimited SIM options may be available, and we can explain the relevant choices when we review your household.

Are there any welcome bonuses?

Potential welcome bonuses may be available depending on eligibility and the offers running at the time. We’ll confirm any applicable offer before you decide whether to proceed.

Why do you need my mobile and email?

Your mobile lets us speak to you about the enquiry. Your email is useful if we need to send a quote, comparison information or follow-up details.

What number will you call me from?

You will normally be contacted from a UK mobile number. Like many modern businesses, members of our team may work remotely or from home, which allows us to provide a flexible, personal service without relying on a traditional call centre. So if you have recently submitted a BillTumble check, please keep an eye out for a UK mobile number you may not already have saved.

How quickly will somebody contact me?

We aim to contact you as soon as possible after receiving your request. At particularly busy times, especially when changes in the energy market lead to increased demand from households looking to reduce their bills, it may take us a little longer to get back to you. Your enquiry is still important to us and a member of the team will be in touch as soon as they can.

When you submit an enquiry, we collect the information you provide, including your name, contact details, address, homeowner or tenant status, services of interest, current providers, approximate energy and broadband monthly costs and preferred contact time. We also record when the enquiry and privacy acknowledgement were submitted, plus basic source information needed to understand where the enquiry came from and protect the form from misuse.

How and why we use it
We use this information to respond to your request, review the household services relevant to you, contact you by phone or email, provide follow-up information and keep an appropriate record of the enquiry. Our lawful bases are taking steps at your request before you decide whether to proceed with services, and our legitimate interests in managing enquiries, keeping accurate records and protecting our website. Submitting an enquiry does not add you to an unrelated marketing list.

Who may receive it
Your information may be accessed by authorised members of the BillTumble team who need it to handle your enquiry, and by service providers that support our website, email and secure record keeping. If you decide to proceed, relevant information may be shared with the service provider involved so the services you select can be arranged. How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not proceed are normally retained for up to 12 months so we can manage follow-up, answer questions and maintain appropriate records. If you proceed with services, relevant records may be retained for longer where needed for customer support, legal, regulatory, accounting or dispute-resolution purposes. We review and securely delete information that is no longer required.

Storage and international processing
We use reputable hosting, email and workspace providers to process and store enquiry information. Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we require appropriate safeguards for the transfer and protection of personal information.

Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask us for access to your personal information, request correction or deletion, restrict or object to processing, or ask for information to be transferred.
